EP 4. Beauty, Sex, and Death - The weird life of Cleopatra

The drinking culture of ancient Egypt and the fascinating stories of histories favourite whore, Cleopatra.

In this episode I will be talking about all things Egypt and all about my favourite woman in history. The woman who paved the way for people like Kim Kardashian, The woman who used what her mamma gave her to gain power, the woman who hid her intelligence behind beauty to rise to the top and control Egypt in a man's world.

She seduced Roman leaders and was likened to Egyptian goddesses, Rivals called her nothing but a temptress, a drunken eastern whore, followers worshiped her. I am of course talking about CLEOPATRA. And let me tell you, Cleopatra is very much indeed, coming at ya.

I'm going to have a little nightcap and retell all the fascinating stories surrounding this woman. Including her unusual beauty routines of bathing in donkey's milk, her secret drinking club, the strange way in which she died and what I actually think of her.

Oh, and whilst we’re at it we will also be chatting about the drinking culture of Egypt - This was a country built on alcohol, everyone from pharaohs to peasants drank, workers drank, even children were boozing. So why has a country built on booze seemingly gone completely sober?

Although this episode is educational, it’s very much informal so don’t take this too seriously. Sure, you’re going to learn about the drinking culture of Egypt and the story of Cleopatra, but mainly this is just inner ramblings so pull up a seat, pour yourself a mega pint of Egyptian wine and tune in. It's story time.
