Cheesy chips in less than 15 minutes loaded with cheddar, mozzarella, herbs, spice and onions, cooked with the Ninja Foodi Max

Side note - you can do this with any air fryer, I just happen to have the Foodi Max.

Cheesy chips in air fryer.

Whether you call them cheesy chips or cheese fries there’s one thing you have to agree on, and that is that they are blooming well delicious!

Recently I came into ownership of an air fryer, in particular, the Ninja Foodi Max Health and Grill, which let me tell you, is a cool piece of tech.

I don’t think there is anything you cant cook in it. It has air frying settings obviously, grill settings, roasting settings, it also comes with a probe to make sure fish and meat is cooked perfectly.

Sure, its quite the hefty piece of kit (and by that I mean its bigger than my microwave) but then again, the oven is one of the biggest things in my kitchen and god knows I don’t need that anymore.

And yes, this is a health and grill, emphasis on the health. The whole thing about air fryers is that they are healthier then conventional cooking. But the second perk is that they are quick, cooking food with half the temp in half the time and all that jazz. So I decided to ignore the ‘health’ part and just make a big basket of super quick super cheesy chips, and let me tell you, they were gooooood!

What makes these cheesy chips the best

I’m sure there are plenty of quick cheesy chips recipes on this here internet. I’m also pretty sure you could find air fryer cheese fries recipes as well, highly doubt I invented cheesy chips in an air fryer…

But you came here, probably due to my claims that these are the best of the best, so you’re probably wondering what’s so good about them. With that being said, here’s a bullet pointed list of what makes my cheesy chips just so god damn tasty…

  • 2 Cheeses

That’s right, we are not messing around with single cheeses here. We also aren’t messing around with expensive and hard to find cheeses, just tried and true cheddar for that cheesy goodness and mozzarella for pure stringy satisfaction

  • Seasoned to perfection

We’re going to season the cheese before adding it, so the cheese distribution is all trapped throughout that cheese.

  • It’s all about the layers baby!

Easily the worse thing about cheesy chips is when the toppings look amazing but underneath is nothing but chips. We’re going to make these so we have layers of toppings and every chips is covered with seasoned chips.

  • quick and easy

Using the air fryer means from start to finish, including the prep and pre heating, this whole thing takes less then 15 minutes. Super quick, super easy.

  • alterations galore

Love something that isn’t included in the recipe? Just add it in. These are my perfect cheesy chips but you can take away or add in whatever you want to make them perfect for you.

What are fryer should I have/buy?

Any good quality air fryer is going to work perfectly. Like I have said, I have the Ninja Foodi Max but that doesn’t mean you need the Foodi Max. That being said, if you haven’t got an air fryer and you are to buy one, you might as well get a good one that’s great value for money and will actually last you in the long run. Something you can cook various meals in.

Here are a few of my top air fryer recommendations that are not the Ninja Foodi Max.

At the point of adding your onion, you can feel free to go ahead and add whatever else you want to bulk out your cheesy chips. Also, feel free to hand cut your chips instead of using frozen. But if you do this, bring the cooking time down to 12 minutes.
