Non-alcoholic Rose and hibiscus tonic cocktail recipe

So valentines day is upon us once more. How’re you going to be spending it? At home with your significant other? Maybe you have no significant other and you’re planning to spend this Valentines day at home watching rom coms on Netflix whilst guzzling down red wine and hazelnut chocolates.

Whatever the case, why not spend this day as an excuse to give ourselves some self love? Have yourself an extra long bubble bath, have a mid day nap and just pamper yourself! I’ve recently shared a few Valentine’s cocktails including a non-alcoholic champagne cocktail recipe, and an alcoholic endless valentines day prosecco cocktails recipe. But today, I’m focusing on a Valentine’s Mocktail.

If you are deciding to make the most out of this Valentines day and give yourself a little home spa/pamper day for one. Then you might want to put down that bottle of red wine for a second and consider some non alcoholic cocktails.

Non-alcoholic Valentines day cocktail?

Now, maybe you are sober in which case a non-alcoholic Valentines day cocktail wont be a shocker for you. But for you drinkers out there (which includes myself) you may be wondering why the hell you would have a non-alcoholic cocktail on valentines day. After all, the aim is to drown your sorrows right? You cant do that with sparkling water…

But hear me out. Let me explain, because there are a few reasons why you may want to swap out the booze on Valentines day. Below I have listed said reasons;

If you’re feeling sad, then drinking to feel better is a bad habit.

If you want a drink by all means go ahead. However, its best practice to first get yourself in a good mood so you’re not drinking as some kind of cure for sadness. Drink because you’re happy not sad. You can read more about that in my tips for mindful drinking.

Feel great tomorrow.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been there before, its Valentines day, you’re all alone, probably feeling more alone then ever before and so you drown your sorrows with that bottle of yellow tail you’ve had in your cupboard since Christmas.

The problem with that method is you wake up the next day feeling even worse! Head ache, dehydrated and lonely do not mix well. So knock back some complex non alcoholic delicious cocktails and feel great today and even better tomorrow!

You’re taking it slow.

This is the one for people who will be drinking (like myself). You don’t just want to go straight in with the morning mimosas. This isn’t Christmas for Christ’s sake! We are treating this day as a self pamper day remember.

So what I will be doing is having my morning coffee. Watching some day time television in my PJS, slapping on a face mask, running the most sparkly bath bomb and bubbly bath you ever have seen and enjoying some refreshing tipples to help cleanse my soul and cleanse my mind. Mindful drinking at its best. A proper wellness afternoon.

These tipples will include this exact one. A complex cocktail with refreshing floral notes perfect for valentines day but without the booze. Or any self pamper/self wellness day for that matter.
